Jazz, Shopping and Classical Music
The student survival guide has really got legs of its own now with all the drafts being finished over the course of the last week. A number of the most important drafts have been completed including shopping, food and entertainment and Arts and creatives.
Of course shopping is a necessity for any student whether it's on essentials or the odd item of clothing that maybe we shouldn’t have bought. Through my research of the primary areas of Selly Oak, Harborne, Edgbaston and Bournville I have found there is a wealth of available shops of many different kinds. If you’re looking to branch out from shops you would normally go to there are also a wealth of independent shops where you may find something a little different from your norm.
Food and entertainment, arguably one of the most important for student life at university, similarly is not lacking in variety. Selly Oak itself seems to be one of the most diverse areas for dining out in the area, going from a traditional pub to Indian to Korean there is something for everyone.
Finally, for anyone looking for something to do in their free time the area has a rich arts scene. From Jazz to Classical music, Monet to Byzantine coin collections there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Furthermore the University provides a number of things for a very low price or even free in some cases. From concerts for just £3 and a huge collection of art at their disposal Birmingham provides a lot of entertainment for their students!
