Birmingham Heritage Week

I have had a very exciting week this week. Having finished drafting and editing my content for my gin bar booklet, I have been working on deciding what images I need for the book as I will need to contact prospective photographers and illustrators. On top of that, I have been formatting the book and putting together the master document for the next stage of production.

This week, Wei and I have been looking into cooperating with the Birmingham Heritage Week, run by the Birmingham Museums Trust. BHW is running from the 10th of September to the 20th, and will celebrate the heritage of the city. Our aim is to help them promote the culture of Birmingham and share what we have learned as a company over the past few months about areas and organisations in the city.

I have never written a formal proposal before, so it was a very exciting challenge to work on a draft proposal for working with them. We have also been working on an application for a grant for companies and organisations that are doing important work in Birmingham and the surrounding areas. Again, I haven’t worked on a formal application of this time before and I am enjoying the process of writing an application for this grant.

Because of the extra work that finishing off the booklet draft has given me, I fell a bit behind on keeping up with social media last week, so this week I have been paying extra attention to queuing up the content that we need and making sure that it goes up at optimal times. I have done a bit of extra research to make sure that I am still posting the right things at the right sort of times for what we need it to do. We have also talked about reducing how often I am posting as finding/making enough content to keep up with posting a couple of times a day is a lot of work in itself!

I am hoping to move into the next stage of producing my gin bar booklet this week, and I have scheduled a few meetings to help achieve this to talk about graphics, photos and formatting.
