Final Week - Charlotte

As we come into the final week of our internship, we’ve all been focusing on wrapping up parts of our projects. I had a meeting with Chen on Thursday to finalise some parts of my guidebook draft. The design is looking amazing and I am very excited to see how it turns out. In the foreword, I want to lay out some of the reasons for making the book and how I hope it will help visitors to Birmingham to find somewhere to have a nice night out!

I have been very busy working on various projects with Wei this week as well. We have been working with Birmingham Tech Week on developing an event about WeiPoint, our work and the pros of working digitally. This is an exciting opportunity for the company and for us individually, as I have never spoken at or worked with an event on this scale before.

In addition to that, we have been looking at applying to the NXIS scheme run by the National Express and I am currently drafting a meeting agenda for our upcoming meeting with Irene de Boo of Birmingham Heritage Week. Balancing these contacts, as well as planning an article for the University of Birmingham language magazine The Linguist, has been challenging, especially in the middle of moving back to Birmingham, but it has been a great opportunity to practice managing my time!

To go alongside my guidebook, we have been working on vlog-style documentaries and so I have been in contact with a friend of Wei’s who will hopefully be helping me with filming and photography. We are currently working out our mutual availability so that we can start to get footage. The current and possible future restrictions are making this part of my work a bit uncertain at the moment, but we are staying hopeful that we will be able to finish this in the next few weeks.

Finally, this past week saw the end of our Instagram-based giveaway campaign. The next steps will be randomly selecting winners and getting in touch so that we can get them sent off as soon as possible. I am excited to run this follow up campaign when it eventually comes together.

I have really enjoyed my time at WeiPoint as an intern and I look forward to starting in a more marketing-heavy role in the coming weeks.
