The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter
Title: The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter
Built in: 1900?
Location: 75-79 Vyse Street, Birmingham B18 6HA
Short intro: A completely unique, historic jewellery workshop turned time capsule
Description: the family-run jewellery manufacturers Smith and Pepper produced gold jewellery for over 80 years from this factory. When the owners retired in 1981 they locked the door behind them and ceased trading. Every item was left as it was: from tools on workbenches, the overalls on hooks. And even cups of tea. This workshop, frozen in time, is now the museum of the jewellery quarter. It tells the story of the quarter and Birmingham's well-renowned jewellery heritage through engaging guided tours and two self-led galleries for visitors.
