Centenary Square

Title: Centenary Square

Built in: 1989

Short intro: A testament to Birmingham ever-changing architecture, where old meets new

Description: Centenary Square is a public square that provides access to some of the best attractions in Birmingham: the symphony hall, the International convention centre, Birmingham Repertory Theatre, and Birmingham’s modern public library. The Square is an important thoroughfare to Broad Street, the centre of Birmingham’s nightlife. The square was originally built to commemorate the centenary of Birmingham achieving city status. Today, old exists right alongside new as the Hall of Memory, a World War I memorial erected as the first structure of the area in 1925, is accompanied by new developments.
