Bournville Carillon

Title: Bournville Carillon

Built in: 1906

Location: Woodbroke Road, Birmingham B30 2AB

Short intro: a rare and unusual musical instrument, nestled in picturesque Bournville

Description: This colossal instrument made up of 48 bells is an extreme rarity in the United Kingdom, being the largest of only five Carillion in the country. George Cadbury commissioned the structure as a gift to the Cadbury workers in 1906, after he saw a Carillion on a visit to Bruges, Belgium. The Carillon plays regularly, and it is possible to take a tour to see the inner workings of the instrument. The Carillon is set next to Bournville village green, making it the perfect place for a peaceful day out.
